Are your Global Teams collaborating effectively?
"Working in a virtual team is just as easy as working with someone who sits right next to you"!
Very few people would agree to this statement. However, recent research shows it can be true. Virtual teams that works effectively, all have one thing in common: They are well prepared for working in distributed teams; and they understand the dynamics and challenges inherent to virtual collaboration.
New research shows that those teams that provide transparency into each other’s work processes across distances are much better at establishing trustful relations. These teams foster knowledge sharing and collegial helpfulness in the virtual work environment. Teams that also craft a common purpose with clearly defined descriptions of roles and responsibilities are significantly more likely to become high-performing virtual teams than teams lacking these abilities.
Thomas Tøth: "Most organizations find that the work processes that works well when teams are co-located has significant shortcomings when it comes to virtual collaboration. This is due to the fact that such collaboration requires a more, and differently, structured approach to collaboration."
